Electrical power system is a capital intensive resource to which the power company should excavate the system's manufacturing management capability during its running period as much as possible. With no increasing or a little increasing cost, we can improve the system's running performance and outcome capability through scientific and reasonable schedule management. Based on the above guidance idea, Shanghai Electrical Power Company decides to develop a power grid running support management system based on advanced computer and network technology, so that it can support improving the power grid's running efficiency with minimum cost increasing through reasonable power-load management.The grid power load monitoring system discussed in this paper is one of senior level management software running on the basis of Shanghai Electrical Power Company's current power manufacturing management system. This grid power load monitoring system's main functions can be divided into two types, which are grid monitoring data management function and grid power load computing, anticipation and analysis function. Each type of function has a group of related sub-functions, which are amply analysis and discussion in the paper. As for software design, this software is consist of a group of programming modules on server end, and manages a group of power load data charts, grid criteria charts and module criteria charts for computing and analysis. The software's programming modules include grid running dynamic view module, system status management module, PAS computing module, power load estimated computing module, estimation criteria setting module and prediction control module.This system is programmed by C++, and background database server uses Sybase relative database programming. Right now, the system has been finished testing and put into primary practical use. It has positive effect to power grid running monitoring, especially to secure management and assisted scheduling support. It also improves the running management engineers' capability of scientific prediction to scheduling scenarios, and efficiently ensures rationality and economy of electrical grid power-load distribution.
