At present, there are a lot of machining equipments which manufacture carrying idlers on the market. But most of them are single machine depended on manual operation. This traditional manual operation with the feature of heavy workload, slow and easy to make mistakes, has been unable to adapt to the rapidly changing market. Domestic carrying idler production line is basically a semi-automation model that puts equipment according to the location placed of technological process, then works by artificial operation machine, loading and unloading material by crane or manual. The carrying idler production technology in foreign countries is developing rapidly, the degree of automation of the production line is very high. But the price of the imported carrying idler production line is very expensive, what's more it is very difficult to maintain. Now only very small number of domestic enterprises have introduced foreign production line of carrying idler. Therefore, it is of great significance to develop the automatic production line of the carrying idler that fits the national conditions of our country.TG-ZX01 carrying idler processing and assembly automation production line is the first independent research and development of carrying idler processing and assembly automation production line which achieved the processing and assembly automation, transportation automation and adjustment automation of the workpiece. It is a high-tech content of the flexible automation production line.In this paper, the research on the process and assembly automation production line of TG-ZX carrying idler mainly includes the following aspects:(1) Analyzing and comparing current situation and development trend of the domestic and international carrying idler production equipment.(2) To introduce the structure of the steel roller, classification, purpose, and the processing and assembling requirements.(3)Combined with the production and processing technology of steel carrying idler, a new set of process flow is summarized and designed the overall plan of the production line according to the process flow, determined the layout of the production line, make sure production line layout, and has carried on the balance of production line design. Through line balancing method the balance design of carrying idler production line has been made. Balance design can promote the entire production system of staffing, logistics transportation, information flows more smoothly. It can also reduce staffing and material moving costs. improve the utilization of space and time, improve the overall efficiency of the entire production process. It helps enterprise reduce cost and improve production efficiency.(4)Researching and analyzing the new technology and new process adopted in production line. The precision analysis of the carrying idler in the production line has been carried out.On the basis of the analysis of the structure of the carrying idler, the paper summarizes the requirements of the parts processing and the whole assembly, and the process improvement and design analysis of each process are put forward. And synthesizing the latest research results of currently process carrying idler equipment, original carrying idler clips press-fit technology, bearing non-stop press-fit technology and the precision integrated detection technology have been applied in production lines. Finally an automatic carrying idler machining and assembly line has been developed.The project is one of national key projects, and it won the first national certification and was delivered to users. The indicators of produced carrying idlers are up to the national standard GB1059-89 and meet the requirements of customers. It had brought great economic and social benefits to customers.
