Radio frequency identification technology is one of the key base of internet of things.The RFID labels is widely used in manufacturing, health cure, defense and other fields. As a core component of RFID label, Inlay was strict controlled during the production process.Because Inlay antenna's bucking, chip separate from the substrate or even be crushed in wound roll may occur owing to incorrect wound-on tension or maldistribution of internal stress in wound roll. Meanwhile, the quality of wound roll will also affect the following process. Mechanism and experiment study on internal stress of wound roll were discussed in this paper.1) The influence rule of internal stress on product failure of RFID label Inlay was analyzed. In an attempt to estimate the material properties of Inlay, parameters of elastic modulus of Inlay, radial modulus and poisson ratio of roll were investigated.2) The 2-D winding mathematical model was established to find out the general rules of winding rolls. The reasonability was verified that assuming wound roll to be made of concentric rings by FEA of winding process.3) 3-D winding mathematical models both incorporating radial displacement and ignoring the displacement were deduced. Computer program for the simpler mathematical model was designed, which can calculate the 3-D internal stress distribution of wound roll after input parameters were determined. And approach for equivalent thickness was delivered so that the internal stress of HIT-9662 Inlay wound roll was carried out.4) Experiment study were conducted to validate the modeling of wound roll internal stress and its variation laws. Different method was used to detect the contact pressure between the core and the web roll and the roll's pressure along radial direction respectively.The researches including Inlay wound roll's theoretical model and test method for material parameters have been demonstrated on roll-to-roll platform. By analyzing the woundroll internal stress distribution and its extreme value, this study may offer some insight of the wound roll defects.
