The study takes students from four middle schools in Harbin and Lanzhou as research target via Middle school students academic stress questionnaire,Rumination Scale(Rumination Response Scale,RRS)and Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI).In this research 475 middle school students were tested to explore the influence of middle school students' academic stress and rumination on their sleep quality index.The results of this study are as follows:1.The academic stress has significant differences in school types,grades,and whether or not they are the only child;rumination has significant differences in gender,place of origin,grades,and school types;sleep quality has significant differences in school types,grades,and whether they are the only child.2.There is a significant positive correlation between the academic stress and rumination in all dimensions;academic stress and its dimensions were positively correlated with sleep quality index;rumination and its dimensions were positively correlated with sleep quality index.3.Academic stress and rumination thinking had a significant positive predictive effect on sleep quality index.4.Rumination plays a significant and full mediating role between academic stress and sleep quality.
