Academic engagement is a positive and fulfilling mental state related to learning, which includes three dimensions: vigor, dedication and absorption.Academic engagement is not only closely linked to academic performance, but also the main indicator to measure education quality.Positive academic engagement can predict higher well being and academic achievement in the future, and can have an important impact on students' future life. Therefore, how to improve students' academic engagement is a popular topic in the field of education and psychology. At the same time,in today's society, the sleep problem of teenagers is becoming more and more serious.Less sleep time, low sleep quality has become a common problem among the students.Previous studies have explored the impact of sleep on learning performance and learning burnout, but the impact of sleep quality on learning engagement is still relatively rare. This study hopes to explain the mechanisms and boundary conditions of sleep quality on academic engagement from the perspective of ego depletion and selfdetermination theory. In Study 1,the initial measurement scale of relative autonomous motivation was obtained through translation, and the reliability and validity of the questionnaire was tested among students in grade one and grade two in high school. After two revisions,Cronbach's ?of the scale is 0.812,CFA shows that RMSEA=0.065,CFI=0.916,TLI=0.900,SRMR=0.066.Indicators such as internal consistency reliability and structural validity of the scale meet psychometrics and can be used as a tool to measure autonomous-controlled motivation in high school students.Study 2 which is on the basis of study one selected three schools 747 high school students, using Pittsburgh sleep quality index, academic engagement scale, state self-control scale, the revised relative autonomy motivation scale as research tools to examine the influence of sleep quality on high school students academic engagement and the mediation role of ego depletion, the moderation role of autonomy of motivation. The study results are as follows:(1)Sleep quality is generally problematic in high school students. The proportion of high school students with sleep disorders reached 35.2%;subjectively reported sleep quality plays a more important role on academic engagement than sleep duration.(2)Sleep quality and sleep duration are significantly positively correlated with academic engagement;sleep quality can significantly and negatively predict ego depletion;ego depletion can also negatively predict academic engagement.Ego depletion serves as a complete mediator between sleep quality and academic engagement.(3)The autonomy of motivation moderated the relationship between ego depletion and academic engagement.Simple effect analysis found that the prediction of self-depletion on academic engagement decreased as the autonomy of motivation increased. The results reveal the potential mechanism of the influence of sleep quality on academic engagement and the different learning engagement states of students suffering from ego depletion when they have different autonomy of motivation. This not only verifies the theoretical hypothesis, but also inspires us to pay attention to students' sleep health.Ensuring their sleep quality, and stimulating the intrinsic motivation of learning,so as to better promote learning engagement.
