IntroductionStress and sleep quality were the two subjects that most closely related to human life.Research has showed that there was a significant relation between stress and sleep quality, andthe relation was affected by some mediators. The purpose of this study was to investigate therelation between occupational stress and sleep quality, and the mediating effect of emotionregulation and affect in this relation among senior high school teachers.Methods413teachers age from23to56years were recruited from senior high schools in Harbin byConvenient cluster sampling. All participants were administrated with self-reportedquestionnaires, included Primary and Secondary School Teachers’ Sources of OccupationalStress Questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Positive and Negative AffectScale (PANAS) and Emotion Regulation Scale (ERS). All data were analyzed by T-test ofindependent, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, Regression analysis and structure equation model(SEM).Results&Conclusions(1)Senior High School Teachers’ occupational stress is serious and sleep quality is poor; andeach of them is significantly different in some demographical variables.(2)Each two of the four variables which are Occupational stress, sleep quality, emotionregulation and affect showed significant correlation.(3)Working load of the occupational stress predicted PSQI, and the NA, PA, occupationalstress score and suppression of emotion regulation together predicted PSQI.(4)Reappraisal of emotion regulation and NA separately played the partial mediating rolebetween occupational stress and sleep quality.(5)Emotion regulation and affect together take actions to the association between occupationalstress and sleep quality among senior high school teachers.
