In recent years,the study of academic procrastination has been paid more and more attention.Academic procrastination is a common phenomenon among college students,which not only affects their study,but also has a negative impact on their employment.So,what factors lead to procrastination,and what factors can inhibit the behavior? These are worthy of further discussion.The causes of College Students’ academic procrastination and how to improve their academic procrastination behavior have also become a hot research topic in pedagogy and psychology.Rumination is a significant factor in the study of influencing factors of academic procrastination.After the occurrence of negative events,rumination will make the individual keep negative emotions,which will cause adverse effects on the cognition and behavior,and then lead to the occurrence of academic procrastination.The existing research also found that academic self-efficacy also has an impact on academic procrastination,and rumination brings negative emotions will also have an impact on academic self-efficacy.Therefore,this study uses academic self-efficacy as a mediator to study the relationship between rumination,academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination.The Rumination Thinking Scale(RRS),Academic Self-Efficacy Questionnaire and Academic Procrastination Scale were used to conduct a questionnaire survey on 702 college students randomly selected from four universities in Nanchang,SPSS19.0 and process plug-in were used for descriptive statistics,correlation analysis,regression analysis and mediating effect test。The results showed that:(1)There are significant gender differences in forced thinking and reflective thinking among college students.Women are more likely to have these two reactions than men;There are significant differences between symptomatic rumination and introspection in the place of students’ origin.Students from rural areas are more likely to have these two manifestations than those from urban areas.There are also significant differences in the degree of forced thinking,introspection and academic procrastination among college students.The two dimensions of academic self-efficacy are significantly different in whether to be a class leader or not.Students who are class leaders in universities have stronger learning ability self-efficacy and learning behavior self-efficacy.All the factors have no significant difference in the professional category and whether the only child or not.(2)Symptom rumination,compulsive thinking and introspective thinking were positively correlated with academic procrastination,and negatively correlated with academic self-efficacy.(3)There is a significant negative correlation between the two dimensions of academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination.(4)Academic self-efficacy plays a partial mediating role between rumination and academic procrastination.Conclusion: In a word,this study explores the influence mechanism of rumination on academic procrastination,and finds that rumination can influence academic procrastination through academic self-efficacy,which has guiding significance for intervention education of College Students’ academic procrastination.
