Research On The Identity Of Gay Group In The Online Community

In the current C hinese mainland,the gay group is still on the marginality of society.The stigma control of mainstream society on the group,is still the main obstacle to its self-identity and the development.The internet provides a brand new place of communication and development for different communities.Along with its characteristics,like weak-ties,concealment,openness and other features,the gay group gathered here to form a virtual community,the scene of their interacts is expanding.Unlike traditional interpersonal contact and information communication,individuals here show who they really are through the online community.This article analyzes the behaviors of gay group against social stigma in the online community for the first step,observes the efforts of the group to improve their living environment and solve their self-identity crisis;Secondly,through the observation and analysis of the activities of gay group in the relevant online communities,including self-narration,interaction with others,collective actions and so on,combined with the theories of communication,sociology and other related study,this paper explores how the group establishes their own identity through the network,and strives for self-identity and social identity.And then analyze whether the network media has played a positive role in the identity for the group;In addition,the gay social applications have achieved the development of pluralism,it meets the social needs of the group,and also creates the media representation of their group.A questionnaire survey was conducted based on the condition of users through the gay social application named“Blued”,then analyzes and discusses the role they plays in the process of identity identification.
