Research On The Application Of Service Learning In Schools For Children Of Migrant Workers

More and more migrant workers moved into the cities.They live on the shanty town in the city,their living conditions and the situation is not optimistic.At the same time,the constant surge in the number of migrant workers and their children caused a variety of social problems,especially the education of children of migrant workers dilemma is most serious.As a response to the social problems and help the social vulnerable groups,professional social work begins to carry out social work services to improve the plight of migrant workers and their children in shanty town.The practical experience shows that migrant workers' children are very important and appropriate service entry points,while emphasizing the relationship between migrant children and their interaction environment system,for social work to carry out a stable,sustained and systematic services,and then to promote migrant workers and theirs children welfare has an important role.Based on the understanding of the relationship between migrant workers dilemma and their related systems influence.Social work began to try to use the ‘Service Learning' that emerged in the 1960 s of the United States in response to actual needs.Service learning is a kind of teaching idea and practical method which integrates ‘Service' with ‘Learning',which by providing fixed classroom time,planned community service and systematic reflection process,and aims to integrate social service into course teaching.So that students can learn and think about the relationship between people and the environment then grow up.In this paper,the practice of social work in the migrant workers' school in Guiyang City is used as the research object.This paper attempts to study the implementation process of service learning in migrant workers' school.This paper takes the theory of service learning as the theoretical basis,and regards the migrant children and their families,migrant workers' schools,shanty town and social workers involved in the process of service learning as a whole interactive system.The paper analyzes the demand situation of migrant workers 'schools for Service learning,and then shows the process of Service learning in the transformation of migrant workers' schools into Service learning courses.Then,through the analysis of practical feedback data,thispaper shows that the Service learning has had a positive impact on migrant workers' children,migrant workers' schools,shanty town and social workers.However,there are still many shortcomings in the service learning courses implemented by social work.Based on these shortcomings,this study gives the suggestions to improve the implementation of service learning in migrant workers' schools.
