Education possesses the value of production and consumption at the same time,so will education affect the level of consumption of rural families? Will it affect the consumption structure of rural families? It not only relates to the implementation of China's strategy of expanding domestic demand, the transformation of economic development mode and improvement of people's livelihood, but also concerns the optimization of rural families' consumption structure and industrial upgrading. Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to analyze the impact of householders' education level on the consumption of rural families. This paper systematically analyzed the influencing mechanism of householders' education level on the consumption of rural families in China, including influences on rural families' consumption level, consumption structure and other aspects related to consumption.Based on this, the paper adopted OLS regression analysis to analyze the CFPS2012 and CFPS2014 data, empirically tested the impact of householders' education level on the consumption level and consumption structure of rural families.Through the theoretical analysis and empirical test, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Householders' education level exerts a significantly positive influence on the consumption level of rural families in China.Every 1% increase in householders' education level will lead to 0.0169% increase in the consumption level of rural families. In terms of regional differences, the impacts of householders' education level on the consumption of rural families in central and western regions are greater than the eastern region. In terms of gender differences, the impacts of male householders' education level on the consumption of rural families are greater than female householders'.(2)Householders' education level exerts a significantly positive influence on the living type consumption;development-oriented consumer spending and enjoying type consumption of rural families.Every 1% increase of householders' education level will lead to 0.0216% increase in the expenditure on living type consumption;and will lead to 0.0146% increase in the expenditure on development-oriented consumer spending and enjoying type consumption in rural families. From the point of view of consumption items, the improvement of householders' education level can significantly increase the consumption expenditureof rural families in food, housing, clothing, transportation and communication, household equipment and daily necessities, but will reduce the health care costs in rural families. The influences of householders' education level on rural families' cultural and educational entertainment consumption are not significant. In view of the research analysis and conclusions, the paper puts forward to measures and suggestions like increasing the investment in rural education, strengthening the basic education, vocational education and consumption education of the rural labour force to improve rural families' consumption level and to optimize their consumption structure. The innovation of this paper lies in that the CFPS data are used to test the influence of householders' education level on the consumption level and consumption structure of rural families from the microscopic view.
