Image is an important category in Chinese poetry theory, it is also an important aesthetic element of classical poetry appreciation. Based on geographical images as the point, this thesis explores the new perspective of teaching classical poetry, describes connotations of the classical geographical images in the middle school teaching material,and the teaching value of appreciating geography images,the teaching advice of appreciating geography images, and the teaching strategies of appreciating geography images, this thesis aimed at the academic exchange and discussion in teaching of classical poetry images with Chinese teachers, in order to increasing the traditional culture of students, promoting the ability of poetry appreciation, aesthetic ability and discovery ability.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is the introduction, the research origin and related research status about the teaching geography images of classical poetry.The second part is the thesis of the first chapter, first of all, combined with the image concept and connotation of the predecessors’ research , the image is "meaningful" which contains the author’s subjective emotion and meaning of the objective image, is the result of the subjective and objective blending, Image has the characteristic of inheritance, the generation and use is closely related to the national aesthetic psychology, and cultural traditions. Secondly introduces the concept of geographic image from the geographical field is introduced in the literature. The third part is the geographic name in middle school Chinese teaching material as the research object, is divided into two categories -mountains and rivers (Mount Tai, Mount Lu, Yi Shui, XiaoXiang) and place names,(Chang’an, Hengyang,Yangguan, Lingnan) exploring the culture origin and culture connotation of names rise to the geographic images. The fourth part is the analysis of geographic images,a new angle of view to bring the teaching value of classical poetry teaching and the teaching strategy of geography image, to make the content more practical reference value and significance.
