"Great tragedy" is a piece of junior high school textbooks articles,which one selected from an article entitled "to seize the Antarctic struggle" in the Zweig's historical feature set "human stars shine".From the "loser" Scott's perspective described the process of the Antarctic race and the results,Zweig's real narrative and unique narrative and emotional expression for this period of experience,making this article has unique teaching significance and aesthetic significance in the junior high school text selection.But in the present that the new curriculum reform in full swing,this article is still in the status which one being apart from the meaning of the plate "great" and "tragedy".The process of reading and the results are too stylized,contraried to the requirements of the new curriculum for reading teaching.Therefore,this paper is based on M.H.Abrams' theory of the four elements of literature,trying to escape from the traditional interpretation mode,with a more complete perspective way of the various elements are unique interpretation to teaching design.This article is divided into three chapters,the first chapter mainly explains what's the "four elements" theory,and from the four elements of the point of view of their relationship with the other three elements;The second chapter is the application of the theory,mainly to explain the "four elements" theory application "great tragedy" interpretation of the integrity and rationality of docking,and make a comment on the traditional interpretation of the teaching of the two categories according to the significance of the classification;The third chapter is the author made several different angles of teaching design based on the four elements and the theory of comprehensive teaching materials and academic factors on this article,in order to be able to help the broad line of teachers to improve the "great tragedy" reading teaching.
