It is an important item for school art education to develop school-based art curriculum by making full use of local special resource.Taking Jing County Xuan Paper as special resource and students of seventh and eighth grade in junior high school as research target,this paper designs and develops fours classes within a school-based course as follows: the first class is “Treasure of Study----Chinese Xuan Paper”,it introduces the origin,development,craft features and other basic knowledge of Xuan Paper to acquaint the students with Xuan Paper;the second class is “Happy Experience----the Untreated and Treated Xuan Paper”,through the works appreciation and classroom practice,it guides students to feel and perceive the features and sfumato effect of Xuan Paper practically,thus leading them to do some simple image-shaping of Chinese ink painting by using Xuan Paper;the third class is “An Interesting design----Making the Folding Fan”,on the basis of understanding of Xuan Paper,it guides students to design and produce the folding fan with creativity,in this way,applying Xuan Paper in life;the last class is “Cultural Inheritance----Step into Museum of Xuan Paper”,by making full use of the unique geographical advantage that Jingxian County is the origin of Xuan Paper and has a large number of paper plants and the only museum of Xuan Paper in China,it plans a visit for leading students to learn craftsmanship and current situation of development and inheritance of Xuan Paper,and so on.In conclusion,these four classes respectively are attached to four learning fields of art----appreciate &review,model & represent,design & apply,integrate & explore: at the very start,informing the basic knowledge of Xuan Paper,then guiding them to feel Xuan paper practically and to apply it to real life by making folding fan,finally ending with a visit activity to Chinese Xuan Paper museum.The four classes lead students appreciate the charm of Xuan Paper progressively,thus improving students' ability generally in visual sense,touch,perception and cognition.At present,there is no above school-based course in PEP edition and renmeiban textbook yet,it is the first case and beneficial attempt and supplement to art teaching.The development of four-class lessen is just a new starting point,the writer of this paper still need to improve in the cognition of curriculum and practical teaching experience through teaching practice.In this sense,when only being tested repeatedly by practice and reflected in theory,can art teaching be improved.
