The Development And Use Of English Curriculum Resources In Junior High Schools: A Survey Study

Curriculum Resource is an important concept in curriculum studies. In the current implementation of curricular reform in primary and secondary schools in China curriculum resource has become an important issue. The new curriculum acknowledges that it would be difficult to realize the great goal of the new educational curriculum without reasonable development and effective utilization of curriculum resource. However, there are few studies of curriculum resource, and the research of English curricular resource is rare in the current research literature in China.In this thesis, the author attempts to investigate the development and utilization of English curriculum resource in particular areas of China. There are two research purposes: first, it investigates middle school teachers'awareness of curriculum resources, and second, it examines the situation of usage and development of middle school English curriculum resources and teacher's ability to utilize them. The results show that the teachers have low awareness of curriculum resources, many conditional curriculum resources are left unused. In a word, the current situation of development and utilization of English curriculum resources are not positive. The implications of the findings are:1. To reinforce studies both on theory and practice in order to offer academic basis for teachers.2. To strengthen training to improve awareness of curriculum resource of teachers as well as to improve their ability to develop and utilize curriculum resource and then to convert the situation of low exploit rate.3. To develop human curriculum resource among teachers to develop the function of human curriculum resource .4. How curriculum resource can be built and used reasonably.5. Importance should be attached to the active function of teaching in the development and utilization of curriculum resources.
