Mind Map is a visual tool for knowledge representation,at the same time,it is another presentation form of divergent thinking.Starting from the central theme,Mind Map diverges by the form of key words,while uses colors,pictures and so on to increase memory effect,which makes the people's attention center on the key theme.Mind Map makes full use of brain functions and follows rules of memory to assist us to reorganize information and then find out relationships between new knowledge and old one,which can enhance students' memory.That is what we need in vocabulary memorizing.The research questions are as follows:(1)What are the major problems with junior high school students' English vocabulary learning(EVL)?(2)What are the main causes for the problems?(3)What major changes has Mind Map brought to junior high school students' EVL? The author had a four-month teaching practice in Luohe Foreign Language Junior High School since September 20 th,2016.It has been observed that students had some problems with vocabulary learning.Therefore,the author conducted a research of the main cause and problems of the students' EVL by means of questionnaire,interview,dictation and test.According to the character of students' age and subject,the author puts forward the hypotheses that Mind Map can improve the students' learning efficiency and chooses Class Three,Grade Seven as research subject,aiming to verify the validity of Mind Map as a new teaching method.The results show that:(1)Lacking of learning interests and correct leaning habits and leaning skills are the main obstacles in vocabulary leaning for Junior High School students.(2)The causes of these problems are teacher 's wrong teaching methods,that is to say,they focus on the pronunciation of vocabulary and the single vocabulary,moreover,the most important thing is that they lack of guidance of vocabulary memorization.(3)The application of Mind Map to vocabulary learning is beneficial for students' learning interests,learning methods and skills,at the same time,it can help students to consolidate the learned vocabulary.
