The Emotional Abuse In Intimate Relationship:A Study Of Its Process And Benefit

This paper is based on the data of semi-structured interviews from nine intimate partners.According to the categorization analysis and scenario analysis,the concept of emotional abuse is restructured and classified in several kinds.This paper presents the processes and benefits of emotional abuse.Research finds: 1,Emotional abuse in an intimate relationship is the action that one party consciously or unconsciously indirect,mild and non-body abnormal-contact causing the other party psychological damage or adverse physical reaction behaviors.2,The basic kinds of emotional abuse are conscious and unconscious.3,The processes of emotional abuse are incubation period,intensification period,suffering period and ice-breaking period.4,After the emotional abuse,relationship may result in communication,tolerance,alienation or rupture.5,Emotional abuse,the meaning for psychology,not for economics,might exists primary benefits including sudden increase in feelings,structural improvement in way of getting along,an opportunity to understand each other,self-reflection,and using emotional abuse to get emotional and material satisfaction.In the end,writer discusses the effect of original family to emotional abuse and believes original family has huge effect on emotional abuse and intimate partners will try to construct new way of getting along during each emotional abuse,although it is difficult.
