Based on the in-deep interview materials of18college students, this paper pictures the microprocess of the student lovers’ breaking up, which benefits from the method of qualitative analysis todepict the process vividly and the applying of Nvivo9.0focusing on categorization andcontextualization. Here comes the conclusion: the main causes of the breaking up lie on differencesbetween the role expectations, the paradox of emotion-profit orientation, the existence of alternativeincome. As an interaction, two strategies can be generated from the process of agreeing to break up:conflict resolution and power operation, considering three ways to form the conflict, which are lineardevelopment process that the contradictions sharply escalates, curve development process that thecontradictions gradually highlights, S-type development process that the contradictions partly hiddenand partly visible. Analyzed on the dimensions of attitude and time, the solutions to conflicts can begenerated as four types, which can be indifference-delaying type, angularity-mandatory type,peace-tangle type and negotiation-reasonable type, in which appears the inclination to “stranger” from“intimate”. Also, there exist three patterns in the power operation, especially in the non-materializationof power operation: gaming between two sides, manipulating by outsides and dominating by love, whose details have been discussed and graphical presented. In the end, relying on the rethink of theprocess, mother as a significant situation factor who has different influences on different sex roles hasbeen found. Besides, sex role identification and indentify for the relationship play a vital role in thesustainable development of the intimate relationship, based on which the four types of solutions toconflict are discussed specifically.
