According to Chinese Curriculum Standards for Full Time Compulsory Education and Senior Middle Schools(Experimental edition),students are required to have a certain amount of intensive reading of ancient prose and poetry.Teachers should cultivate students' interests in reading and make reading fall into a habit of students.It is also indicated in the standard that there are many approaches to help students improve their reading and appreciating.For instance,students can read as much poetry as possible to appreciate and experience the image and artistic conception of the work.In this way,students will receive spiritual edify and aesthetic pleasure.This shows that reading is an important part of senior high school Chinese education.At the same time,it is the inevitable way for students to learn ancient poetry.The thesis intends to take the Bao Tou No.4 middle school as the example,combining with my own practical experience to figure out the influence of reading exerted on both teaching and students' learning from the perspective of “classic reading teaching method”,discuss the significant of reading prose and poetry in Chinese language teaching and finally conclude the approaches for improving students' abilities in ancient poetry reading comprehension and traditional artistic appreciation through reading.This thesis consists of four parts.The first part starts with the definition and theoretical connotation of the two words “classic” and “reading”.The “classic prose and poetry” discussed in the thesis refers to ancient literary works that have long been well recognized,represent the features of a certain historical period and are beautiful both in language and form.Combining the Chinese language teaching practices,we believe that reading aloud is an audible reading method relying on level and oblique tone,syllable,phonology to conjecture the author's thoughts and feelings.The second part follows the discussion of the significance of reading classic prose and poetry in Chinese language teaching.It is implied in the thesis that reading plays an irreplaceable role in terms of Chinese language teaching in high school,which can be primarily demonstrated in such aspects as cultivating sound personality,improving humanistic quality,motivating student's passion in learning,broadening reading horizon,appreciating the essence of ancient works and realizing the beauty of rhythm.The third part summarizes many problems in the actual Chinese teaching experience.We use questionnaire as the research instrument.According to the data and results,the author has draw a conclusion that the problem existed in the practical process of reading classic prose and poetry is from teachers and students respectively.On the teachers side,there exist some problem,such as,lacking professional knowledge of reading,teaching instead of reading and paying too much attention to Gao Kao while ignoring the appreciating of classic prose and poetry.As for students,there is a deviation in the learning attitude,emotional attitude,teaching center and learning approach.In the fourth part,I summarizes the principles and methods of classic reading method teaching from several aspects including clearing the activities of ideas and target positioning,optimizing the structure of the curriculum and planning the teaching rationally,basing on the actual text and emphasizing the effects of reading.Combining “The Chinese Curriculum Standards for Full Time Compulsory Education and Senior Middle Schools(Experimental edition)”,as far as the author is concerned,the objectives of teaching classic prose poetry in senior high school should lay on the following three aspects.They are emotional goals,capabilities and knowledge goals.At the same time,the class hour,quantitative and selected article,implemental process and evaluation should be put on reasonable and detailed design.In the process of specific reading,teachers should focus on appreciating the connotation of sentiments,grasping the main idea,emphasizing the tone and manner of speaking,showing verve through reading,distinguishing the rhythm and meter,realizing the beauty of music,deliberating the decent words and improving aesthetic standard.
