With the continuous development of curriculum resources,film and television resources have drawn wide attention from a vast number of educators for their unique characteristics such as directness and richness.More and more teachers attempt to apply film and television resources in class.The proper application of film and television resources can not only stimulate students' interest in learning,broaden their horizon,but also enrich the class forms as well as adding to the contents of teaching.However,once misused,they can achieve opposite effects.Not only will the teaching quality be reduced but also students' reading ability can not be cultivated.Therefore,how to make effective use of film and television resources remains a question worth exploring.Based on the previous research by former scholars,this paper studies the issue of applying film and television resources to Chinese reading class in junior high school in a deeper way.It expounds the feasibility and necessity of such practice from the perspective of the value of film and television resources,the requirement of information age and new standard of curriculum,the characteristics of junior high Chinese reading,among which this paper put special emphasis on the connection between Chinese reading characteristics and film and television resources and the necessity of introducing film and television resources into classroom.In order to have a full understanding of the current situation of applying film and television resources to Chinese reading class,we have conducted a research on teachers and students from seven schools in a certain city.Data are collected by using the methods of survey and interviews and subjected to data analysis of current state.Through survey we found that many teachers have the awareness ofapplying film and television resources in Chinese reading class but based on the data gathered through survey of teachers and interviews with students,this paper also reveals some problems in the application of film and television to reading class.All the problems are sorted out and made systematic and logic.The following two are specially illustrated: on the one hand,problems exist in all procedures of reading teaching class.While using film and television resources,many teachers didn't do very well in careful selection of suitable material before class,proper presentation of resources during class and expansion of resources after class,which leads to low efficiency of teaching.On the other hand,problems exist in genre teaching as different genre have a direct influence on teaching practice,an aspect ignored by many teachers.As a result,low teaching quality is caused without differentiating different genre of film and television resources.In respond to it,this paper has proposed respective strategies by illustrating how teachers can better use film and television resources and how to incorporate these resources into different genre teaching so that students' interest in study can be improved,teaching material and teaching methods can be enriched and thus teaching quality is able to be improved.
