As a part of history course, Art history plays an important role in acquiring students′ comprehensive accomplishment, but it is long neglected and ignored by the majority of teachers and students, especially because it is not as the main content of the college entrance examination. Linxia, one of the ethnic minority areas,whose art history teaching also turns out to be some problems because of its low economic and educational development. For this part, many teachers speak very simple or let the students study by them-selves, so the edification of history and art to the student role severely weakened.Art has special meaning for the students in Linxia. with long-time history and deep cultural background, nourished by many kinds of folk art and cultural form,students here become especially rich in art.So research on art history teaching is good for students in this area to use their advantages in art and help them grow up. It can also help teachers perfect themselves and advance their history teaching.So the article summarizes and analyzes the former academic documents about art history and culture by analyzing method. On the base of the former research,the article take the art history teaching of T middle school in Linxia as an observing object and make the research on the art history class by way of checking material and observing class.The research shows that teachers in T middle school are lack of art knowledge. They use traditional teaching method but it is not good for students to inspire their art potential and to promote their aesthetic experience. The reason of this contains teachers neglected the importance of art history and pre-service cultivation deficiency as well as no motivation to study further after work. In order to improve art history teaching in T middle school, teachers can try to do some work from following aspects: Firstly, redefine the importance and value of the art history teaching;secondly, try best to improve art knowledge; thirdly, actively develop and use all kinds of resource in art history teaching.
