The new curriculum reform takes "all for the development of students" as the core concept of teaching. It requires updating the concept of teaching and learning, changing the way of teaching and learning and to effectively promote the knowledge and skills, processes and methods, attitudes and values so as to achieve the goals of "three-dimensional". However, based on the current teaching situation of junior high school English and the author's own practical experience, we find that some teachers still do not get rid of the constraint of traditional teaching ideas. For the new teaching ideas, they just accept it instead of really translating it into the quality of their own education. In English class, the teacher is still to teach for teaching, and to teach for the exam. They always keep in the dominant position of teaching, and students are still the passive recipients of knowledge. On the whole, the teaching effect is not ideal. Therefore, how to ensure the quality of teaching and simultaneously complete the main proposed tasks of the new curriculum reform, has been the current English teaching problems to be solved. The student-oriented education which is proposed by Professor Guo Sile has opened up a new way to break through this bottleneck. It provides an effective shortcut for the junior high school English teaching under the new curriculum standards. Student-oriented education makes "everything for the students, highly respect students and fully rely on students" as the core concept. It emphasizes to highlight the dominant position of students so that the students can make a shift from "Want me to learn" to "I want to learn". This is also consistent with the requirements which are proposed by the new curriculum reform, namely, to enable students to participate actively, be willing to explore, do by themselves and learn to cooperate and so on.This paper is based on the reflection of the educational philosophy and conducted. It intends to explore that how to better combine the student-oriented education with junior high school English teaching and improve the effectiveness of the junior high school English teaching comprehensively. The thesis is divided into six parts. The first part mainly introduces the background, purpose and significance of the study. The second part makes a brief overview of the current research situation of the student-oriented education and the effective teaching. The third part introduces the theories of the research. The fourth part explains the methodologies which were used in this study. The fifth part is the data collection and analysis of this study. This study is based on the combination of the student-oriented education and the goals of "three-dimensional" requirements of the new curriculum reform. According to the questionnaires, interviews, observation and testing, the author achieves the following conclusions: Compared to the traditional English teaching philosophy, student-oriented education philosophy can stimulate students' interest in learning English, promote the attitude shift of learning English and enhance self-confidence in English learning more effectively. It is also more conductive to improving students' ability to self-reflection and English learning. The last part of the paper focuses primarily on the practice after summary and reflection. According to summary and reflection, the author finds out the usefulness and shortcomings of this study and put forward some suggestions as reference for the future related research.
