In the contemporary schools of compulsory education in China,the Young Pioneers,as a formal student organization,is of great value to students' independent and comprehensive development.At present,the literatures about the Young Pioneers mainly focus on the theoretical system,the activities and the automation,with little attention on the Young Pioneers squadron and its autonomy.Then,this study mainly explores the internal and external mechanism of the autonomy of the Young Pioneers squadron of the junior high schools,and reflects the problems and space of promoting the autonomy.In this study,the autonomy of the Young Pioneers squadron refers to the process of the collective decision-making and action by young pioneers in the squadron organization,including the joint exercise of democratic rights,managing the affairs and organizing activities.It is a kind of group autonomy on the level of squadron,not just the individual autonomy of the young pioneers.Based on this conception,this study takes the S school in Shanghai as a typical case,collecting the relevant documents,texts,pictures,videos and instructors' notes,logs of squadron autonomy and weekly journal of members extensively,then making a specific and comprehensive analysis of the mechanism and effect of the squadron autonomy.Through data analysis,the study finds,(1)The S school promotes the autonomy of the Young Pioneers squadron,aiming at solving the problems during the development,satisfying the meet of the automatic development of pioneers of junior schools.At the same time,it is a requirement of the Young Pioneers organization construction.(2)From the internal part,the autonomy of squadron is mainly about four aspects,namely the democratic elections,post negotiation,discussing the rules together and automatic activities,with the remarkable characteristics of collective participation.(3)From the external relationship,the school give more autonomy rights to the squadron and strengthen the autonomy by means of adjusting the school mechanism,constructing the platform of team,and the role return of squadron instructor.(4)The autonomy of the Young Pioneers squadron can promote the formation of political ideas of pioneers,strengthen the sense of belongs of organizations,and develop their public spirit and independent ability.Based on these findings,this study suggests that the promotion of the Young Pioneers squadron autonomy is an exploratory practice to deepen the work of the Young Pioneers.From the case study of the S school,the promotion of the Young Pioneers squadron autonomy needs to be optimized in the following aspects.Firstly,it is semi-autonomy and it needs reasonable guide from the school and instructors.Secondly,it should coordinate the relationship between the class and the Young Pioneers,clarify the boundary of squadron construction and the class management,achieving the effective division and merge.Thirdly,the Young Pioneers should make full use of the comprehensive value to the students'development.
