San Yi Bi Tan is a novel of Qing Dynasty.The Author Xu Zhongyuan was largely influenced by Ji Yun who wrote Jottings from the Thatched Abode of Close Observations.There were only a few scholars in the current academic circles to study in this book.Lack of the overall grasp and analysis.Based on intensive reading of the texts and reading a large amount of relevant literatures to the book,this thesis attempts to make a systematic analysis of the book.It focuses on Xu Zhongyuan and its current research situation of the San Yi Bi Tan,and this part tries to make the research area clear through works and papers.Sorting and classifying the sources of San Yi Bi Tan.This paper is divided into three parts according to his statement and experience: individual creations,absorbing the former generations and their stories,collecting gossip of the guests.The classification of San Yi Bi Tan is divided into four categories: legend anecdotes,causality,the novel case-solving class and the doctor medicine.This book is rich in ideological content,reflecting the people living in squalor and local folk customs,exposing the social ills that existed in the political and ethical moral hazard phenomenon,expressing of longing for a better life wishes.The paper focus on the narrative methods of San Yi Bi Tan according to the story expressive patterns.Although the artistic achievement of this book is not equivalent to that of the Jottings from the Thatched Abode of Close Observations,this book is filled with rich stories and diverse narratives.And it holds a position in the history of Chinese classical novel.
