| This report,based on the author’s translation practice in a communication technology company,takes acceptance manual as the object of study,Hu Gengshen’s eco-translatology as theoretical basis,and comparative analysis and guiding practice with theory as methodologies to deal with difficulties occurred in acceptance manual translation.The author,during her translation practice of acceptance manuals,found that the following difficulties repeatedly encountered: in linguistic dimension,such as unnormative noun forms and tense,overuse of passive voice and weak verbs;in cultural dimension,such as redundant information,duplicate information,and inappropriate information for international readers;in communicative dimension,such as irrelevance to the subject,blending steps with results,and lacking contextual information.In consideration of acceptance manual’s characteristics as language normativeness,cultural neutrality and practicality,the author,based on Professor Hu’s Translation as Adaptation and Selection,with the technical writing principles as guidance,summarizes the following techniques: in linguistic dimension,abiding by the noun forms and tense norms,using active voice and strong verbs;in cultural dimension,deleting redundant information,combining duplicate information,and converting inappropriate information;in communicative dimension,rewriting,dividing steps with expected results,and adding necessary information. |
