This report is based on the author’s practice of translating a excerpt from the report What Next for the Oil and Gas Industry.Compared with other texts,Petroleum English text’s features include terminologies,nouns,long sentences,passive sentence and charts.By selecting and analyzing typical nouns,sentences and charts cases,the author discusses difficulties and problems in the process of translation and skills and methods to solve these difficulties and problems.The author uses computer aided translation tool in the translation process,discusses the difference between machine translation and computer aided human translation,summarizes benefits and drawbacks of computer aided translation tools in translation process.This report consists of five chapters.The first chapter describes the translation task,including text source,text features,research purpose and significance.The second chapter focuses on translation process,including preparation before translation,computer aided tools in translation,comprehension and expression,revision and modification.In the third chapter,the author summarizes benefits and drawbacks of using computer aided translation tools in translation practice.The fourth chapter is the main body of this report.It reveals difficulties and problems the author met and solving skills and methods in translation.The fifth chapter is a summary of this report.
