| This translation report is based on chapter 3 from Translation In Global News written by Esperanca Bielsa and Susan Bassnett.This chapter reviews the development history of the world's leading news agencies,such as Agence France Presse,Reuters and Associated Press,and analyzes the relationship between globalization and media.Under the guidance of ‘Functional Equivalence' and with domestication as the main strategy and foreignization as the supplementary one,some translation methods such as addition,omission and conversion at lexical level,and voice transformation,division and recasting translation at syntactic level,are adopted during translation practice.Some aspects in textual level and cultural level also are mentioned.This project shows that translation is a complicated communicative activity crossing languages and cultures.To fulfill this project,the translator needs to be equipped with not only the rich knowledge of language and culture but also the relevant information of media and globalization.This report includes five parts.Part one is the brief introduction of this project's background and significance,as well as the author and the source text;Part two is a description of the translation process,including before translation,while translation and after translation;Part three deals with the theoretical framework and translation strategies based on the analysis of the source text;Part four discusses the difficulties encountered at different levels and relevant translation methods;the last part concludes with a summary of experience obtained from this translation practice. |
