This translation report is based on the translation of a book entitled Translation in Global News written by Susan Bassnett and Esperan?a Bielsa. It was published by Tylor&Francis Book in 2009 and introduced and republished by Shanghai Foreign Language Press.Chapter six “Reading Translated News” makes research on the features of news texts of three main news agencies,AFP,Reuters, and IPS by analyzing the samples selected from their daily news texts, and the process of translating global news, which illustrates that a plenty of rewriting is found in the process of global news translation. The language is tailored for the taste of target readers both in form and content. On the basis of text-type theory of Peter Newmark,Translation in Global News can be classified as an informative text. The translation of informative text is required to convey faithfully the writer's intention, and to consider the reader's responsibility and acceptability.According to that, this report is based on the functional equivalence proposed by Eugene A.Nida, and adopts domestication and foreignization strategies.Cases are analyzed at lexical, syntactic, textual and cultural levels to discuss the techniques of translation to reach the functional equivalence between source text and target text. This report consists of five parts, including, the introduction of the translation project, the translation process, theory framework, case analysis and conclusion.
