Translation Report Of English Frame Net Names

English FrameNet,based on the Frame Semantics advanced by Charles J.Fillmore,is a lexical database of authentic materials built in University of California,Berkeley.Chinese Framenet(CFN),taking linguistic data of English Framenet for reference,is a Chinese lexical database applied to the computer.English FrameNet translation is referred to building the Chinese Frame Net.It contains frameNet names translation,definition translation,FEs translation,sentence translation,frame-frame relations translation and lexical unit translation.In this report,the author aims to find out some methods of translating FrameNet names.By analyzing problems in translating frames,the author wants to summarize effective ways to translate English FrameNet names,so that translators can provide accurate lexical items for Chinese FrameNet.The report mainly consists of four parts.In the first part,the author introduces the background and the significance of this task.The second part is the translating process,including preparing,translating and proofreading.The main part of this report is chapter three——case analysis.In this part,the author gives four types of cases(names of technical terms,names of polysemy,names of semantic non-correspondence and different names of synonyms)and analyzes them,so as to find strategies(such as referring to definitions or other frames)to translate frame names that are conformed to both the source language and the target language.The last part is the conclusion.In this part,some experience and further problems will be discussed,and the author believe that some other solutions need the great effort from the translators to serve for CFN more accurately.
