A Translation Report On English Framenet

The English FrameNet is the lexical database built by UC Berkeley based on frame semantics.The database can not only be used as computational language dictionary,but also has important significance to computer intelligence.The translation of English FrameNet into Chinese and the construction of Chinese FrameNet are also important part to realize computer intelligence in our country.Based on personal practice of translating the English FrameNet,and combined with some examples,this paper discusses the conversion of the part of speech and structure,and long and difficult sentence translation with the aim to provide some reference for the translation of the English FrameNet.First,due to the differences in word class between English and Chinese,"Literal translation" often cannot be adopted and it is needed to convert word class.Second,it is needed to adapt structures such as adapt adverbial to predicate or adapt attributive to adverbial.Finally,because English belongs to the Germanic languages with complete structure and logic to add modifiers,which results in a large amount of complex sentences in English.While the Chinese sentences are in flexible patterns and mostly short.In English-Chinese translation:first,it is needed to correctly analyze the sentence structures and understand the relationships among them;second,it is needed to analyze the inner logical relations of the sentences;third,it is needed to pay attention to the differences in the order of components between the two languages.
