This translation practice report chooses Chapter Two of The Economic Consequences of Outdoor Air Pollution as its translation materials. The Economic Consequences of Outdoor Air Pollution is an environmental report published in 2016 under the responsibility of the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It provides a comprehensive assessment of the economic consequences of outdoor air pollution in the coming decades, focusing on the impacts on mortality, morbidity, and changes in crop yields caused by high concentrations of pollutants, and Chapter Two gives a framework for assessing the economic consequences of outdoor air pollution. It is hoped that this translation practice report can arouse the attention of people to environmental protection. Based on Reiss's Text Typology Theory, this translation practice report explores the translation strategies of environment report texts. Reiss divided texts into three main types according to their texts' main functions: the content-focused text (informative),the form-focused text (expressive), the appeal-focused text (operative). The Source Text (ST) is a typical environmental report, which belongs to the informative text.Under the guidance of Reiss's Text Typology Theory, the translator first analyzes the characteristics of the original text and then summarizes the translation strategies and methods of environmental texts at the level of vocabulary, syntax and discourse with specific examples. This translation report is composed of four chapters. The first chapter briefly introduces the contents, background and significance of the original text, and describes the whole translation process, including preparation before translation, translation process and proofreading after translation. The second chapter introduces the origin and development of Reiss's text typology theory, and its influence in China. The third chapter applies Reiss's text typology theory to the translation practice, analyzing the linguistic features of the original text and explores translation methods of ST at the level of vocabulary, syntactic and discourse with specific examples. The last chapter summarizes the translation report, and points out problems remain to be solved.
