A Research On The Adverbs In Shen Zhong Lou

The research on Chinese grammar can't do without the research on Chinese Function Words.Adverb is a special part of speech between the Notional and the Function word in Chinese language,having elusive meaning,high frequency of use,and flexible use.Meanwhile,Adverb is a heterogeneous part of speech,there are different opinions about its definition and classification,the study on the origin and evolution of the commonly used Adverbs still have a large space.For the study of Chinese language historical research,modern Chinese serves as a connecting link between ancient Chinese and contemporary Chinese.Moreover,Ming and Qing Dynasties is the critical period for the development of modern Chinese,a batch of mature novels and dramas with colorful colloquial language have emerged,reflecting the true appearance of the language in this period,providing a large number of authentic material for the study of modern Chinese.Li Yu is a prestigious playwright and drama theorist who lived in late Ming and early Qing Dynasty,he is good at creating drama and novel.His works appeal to both refined and popular tastes,so they are very popular and easy to understand.His drama collection The Ten Dramas by Li Weng include ten dramas which are widespread,one of them is Shen Zhong Lou.The thesis is based on Shen Zhong Lou,we take the Adverbs in this drama as the objects of investigation,and examine all Adverbs by eloquent scientific statistics.By the description and explanation based on different classification,we present a comprehensive display of Adverb system of Shen Zhong Lou.Referring to previous research results,we analyze the grammatical meaning and syntactic function of specific Adverbs,explore some special uses of Adverbs,and have a approximate view of the origin and development of some Adverbs.All these help to have a basic understanding of the appearance and characteristics of Chinese Adverb in Ming and Qing Dynasties,and provide a reference for the study of Chinese Adverb and grammar.There are three parts in this paper:The first part is an introduction which make some brief explanation on the research state of Adverb and Shen Zhong Lou,as well as the research idea and method of this thesis,and so on.The second part is the description and explanation on the Adverbs in Shen Zhong Lou based on different classification.Referring to theoretical results of Adverb,we divide the Adverbs in Shen Zhong Lou into seven categories:?Adverb of degree;?Negative Adverb;? Adverb of time;? Adverb of scope;? Modal Adverb;? Mood Adverb;? Correlative Adverb.Each category of Adverb can be subdivided into several kinds.In this paper,we count the amount and frequency of Adverb in Shen Zhong Lou,and make necessary description and explanation,along with several typical examples.The last part is the condensation,analyzing and summing up the overall usage and characteristics of Adverbs in Shen Zhong Lou.Finally,bringing forward the innovation and deficiency of this paper.we hope the Adverb research based on Shen Zhong Lou contributes to further undertanding of modern Chinese grammar.
