The purpose of tourist publicity is to enable visitors to stimulate the yearning for the tourist attractions and to produce the desire to travel in a short period after reading the information.However,the translation quality of tourist publicity text is closely linked with the development of the tourist industry of China and the internationalization process of tourism,but also it directly affect the image of China in the hearts of the people of the world.Therefore,to adapt to the development of tourism,so that foreign tourists prefer to travel to China,we should pay more attention to the translation of tourist publicity text.The thesis is an English translation practice report that took a special planning column “Millennium-Old County—Jinxi”in the twelfth issue of Chinese Heritage of 2015 as an example.In this special planning column of the magazine,it introduced the famous scenic spots,the precious cultural relics and the historical culture and local conditions and customs of Jinxi respectively from three aspects of the ancient architecture,the ancient technology and the ancient humanity.The composition of this column belongs to a tourist essay based on Text Typology.This translation practice report is based on Text Typology of Katharina Reiss.The author analyzed the features of text,discussed the translations difficult points that encountered in the process of English translation of tourist essay,and described the process of solving these difficult points,and finally,put forward some corresponding translation strategies to the English translation of this kind of tourist text under theguidance of the Text Typology Theory,such as literal translation and omission,the combination of transliteration and free translation,explanation translation,amplification,paraphrase,and structural reorganization of information,and so on,hoping to provide some help for the later researchers of researching the translation of tourist text.This thesis consists of five parts.The first part is the translation project description.It mainly explains why the writer choose Jinxi as the study of tourist attraction from two aspects of the project background and the project significance,then the writer introduces the content and the characteristics of Chinese Heritage.The translation practice is based on a special planning column “Millennium-Old County—Jinxi”in the twelfth issue of Chinese Heritage of 2015,and the composition of this column belongs to a tourist essay based on Text Typology.The second part is the translation process description.It includes three stages,they are the preparation before translation,the plan in the translation and the revising after translation.The third part is the relationship between Text typology and translation of tourist essay,and the author puts forward the type of problems that encountered in the process of translation practice,such as the translation of scenic spots;the translation of words of ancient architecture;and the translation of poetry.The fourth part is translation strategies under the guidance of the Text Typology Theory,in order to guide the translation practice.In this part,the author makes an analysis on the translation materials from the content of information and the content of expression,and summarizes some corresponding translation strategies,such as literal translation,omission and amplification,and etc.In the fifth part,the author makes a brief summary and reflection on the translationpractice.
