Zhao Fan(1851-1927),a famous bureaucrat who living in the late Qing Dynasty and in the early Republic of China,was known as the first inspection officer of China when he took up the position of Provincial Judge of Sichuan Province in Qing Dynasty,and then he served as the transport minister of the Canton protect-constitution military government in the Republic of China.Moreover Zhao Fan was more prominent in the field of cultural and literary,who obtained great achievements in poetry,Chinese couplets,all kinds of articles,and calligraphy.Additionally,Zhao was addicted to compiling and collecting book,and searching for the document literature of Yunnan Province where he born,which made a very great contribution to the cultural development of Yunnan.As a scholar,Zhao Fan was diligent and learned;as an officer,he was devoted to his duty and cherish common people;as a teacher,he taught by personal example as well as verbal illustration;as a man,he pursued both success in career and perfection in morality:In a word,a lot of valuable spirit can be found in Zhao Fan who enjoyed a tremendous reputation alive.After Zhao Fan's death,people continuously recall his story and study his scholarism.Over the past century,the study on Zhao Fan gradually goes on in-depth,and has made a very rich results.On the basis of the existing achievements,this thesis aims at carrying out a more comprehensive and in-depth study of Zhao Fan's poems,explaining the ideological content and artistic characteristics of his poems,and taking into account the special time background and society Environment in which Zhao Fan lived,conclude the evaluation and position on Zhao Fan's poetry that meet the historical and aesthetic standards.The introduction part is mainly research review,including Zhao Fan's life research,poetry research,Chinese couplets research,calligraphy research and other aspects.Research perspective,method and theoretical significance are also in discussed.The first chapter is "Zhao Fan's life and works".Firstly,narrate Zhao Fan's life events chronologically,and via the reproduction of the poet's life experience,show his personality characteristics and unique features.In written,I will lay emphasis on Zhao's choice in the specific historical events,in order to make people more real and full.And then I will list Zhao Fan's works one by one,and make a brief introduction the content and situation of existence and disappearance to each work.The second chapter is "the subject and content of Zhao Fan's poems".Zhao Fan's poetic themes are diverse and rich in content,showing the profound knowledge and extensive social experience of poet.Throughout the poems of Zhao Fan,five kinds of poems are representative,namely poems about journey,poems about current affairs,poems about aspiration,poems about celebration to Su Shi's birthday and poems to his wives.These poems reflect both Zhao Fan's strong ideals of govern and benefit the people,patriotic feelings,but also the performance of his sentimental and versatility.At different times,due to political reasons,the interpretation,interpretation and evaluation of the content of Zhao Fan's poems show different results.In the present mainstream,Zhao Fan's patriotic feelings and kindheartedness are widely accepted,and Zhao Fan is also frequently presented as an officials and scholar who worries main aspects:the Confucianism thought of loyalty and filial piety,the Buddhist thought of escaping for Buddhism and the thought of keeping the traditional culture.Because of the turmoil in the old and the new era,there are complex and subtle contradictions within those three aspects.The fourth chapter is "the artistic characteristics of Zhao Fan's poems".It is the basic idea of this chapter that to analyze the artistic characteristics of Zhao Fan's poems by combining Zhao Fan's poetic concept.Zhao Fan's poetic concept mainly has four aspects:the purpose of loyalty and filial piety,pictorial temperament,accumulating knowledge and sustaining the spirit,and utilizing all other's advantages.In poetry criticism and creation,he had adhered to the above ideas.Overall,Zhao Fan's poems presented three characteristics:First,incorporation of bright individual character and deep social reality;the second is good at all kinds of style,especially in Seven-character octave;the third is energetic bright and clear,and of high mental state and deep affection.Through combing documents we can find that Zhao Fan's poetry is actually based on learning Du Fu and other various poets,by which Zhao set up his own poetry style,and ultimately obtained the fame equivalent to his merit,known as the "a history written by poetry".
