Maritime English is a branch of English for Specific Purposes(ESP),which belongs to non-literary translation.It has its own specific background culture and its own linguistic features.This report is based on the fourth chapter of Shipping Interdiction and the Law of the Sea.It is found that there are a lot of complex sentences in the selected text in the process of translation.The main characteristics of these sentences in the text are including many modifiers,nominalization structure,inserts and passive voice,In the process of analyzing these complex sentences,the author mainly summarizes the translation methods of these complex sentences including linear translation,inverse translation,recasting translation,cutting translation,division translation,embedding translation following the translation criteria "faithfulness" and"fluency".It is the point and difficulty in the process of the translation.The first three methods are for the adjustment of the word order;while the following three methods are for logical adjustment.The translation methods in the report can effectively solve the problems of translating complex sentences with the expectation to provide references for other maritime English translation.
