This text is selected from Chapter 6 of Mountains in the Greenhouse: Climate Change and the Mountains of the Western USA by Donald Mc Kenzie.It mainly expounds the impact of ecological disturbance such as wildfire,insect outbreak and landslide on the ecosystems of the western mountains of the United States.The original text is environmental science text,with flexible part of speech and complicated syntactic construction.Combining the characteristics of the text,the author solves practical problems with the translation process from the aspects of words and sentences.For the translation of words,the author discusses from lexical addition,the conversion of translation and contextual analysis.Moreover,the author also summarizes the translation methods of the shifts of sentence elements,that is,the object,predicate and adverbial modifier of English respectively translate into the subject of Chinese.The author also focuses on the translation of complex sentences,and analyzes them from reverse translation and split translation.This report aims to provide reference value for the translation of similar texts in the future.
