A Study Of The Domestication Translation Of Campus News From The Perspective Of Cultural Translation

With increasing globalization,international exchange is becoming more frequent,many domestic universities have established English websites.As campus news is a window for publicity,the English translation of it is directly related to the international exchange with other universities as well as the reputation of the university.Therefore,the translation quality of campus news is very important.The translation of campus News is a cross-cultural communication process.But the fact is that the readers of the English news lack of the cultural background of China,So it's critical for translators to convey the cultural information of the news.Cultural translation theory emphasizes that in order to achieve cultural equivalent between the target language and the original language to the maximum extent,translation should be centered on the target readers,and the translators should give full play to creativity.the theory also points out that the essence of translation is cross-cultural information transfer.Cultural translation theory offers important inspiration for the translation of University Campus News,and it also plays an important role in improving the translation quality of university campus news.This thesis is written on the basis of the writer's translation practice of news published on Nanjing Agricultural University's website recently;combined with the cultural translation theory,it mainly discusses the guided domestication translation of university news.The paper is composed of two parts,the first part includes the translation project description and the news on NAU website and their translations.The translation project description introduces the research background,aim and meaning,while the campus news are chosen from Nanjing Agricultural University's website both in Chinese and English.As examples for the following analytical studies,they are translated and published by the author recently.The second part reviews the cultural translation theory and discusses the characters of campus news.It specifically analyzes the news translation and explores the domestication translation of the campus from the perspective of amplification,omission and substitution.The targeted readers thereby can grasp the news main point accurately.
