| With the vigorous development of China’s higher education,domestic universities are constantly improving themselves in various aspects to enhance their comprehensive competitiveness and achieve better development.As an essential means of external publicity,university website news has attracted more and more attention from universities.In order to expand the popularity and influence of universities at home and abroad,English translation of campus website news has come into being.This paper is based on the Chinese-English translation practice of website news of the Faculty of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics of Kunming University of Science and Technology.Under the guidance of functionalist Skopos theory,this paper analyzes lexical,syntactic,and textual difficulties,combined with the features of conciseness,objectivity,and timeliness of news language.According to the principles of skopos,coherence and fidelity,the author adopts different translation strategies to solve these difficulties to achieve better quality effects of the translated text.This paper consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,including the analysis of the original text,the background and significance of the project.The second chapter describes the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,theoretical guidance,difficulties encountered in the translation process and their solutions,and post-translation revision and proofreading.The third chapter presents a case study,the author adopts different translation strategies from lexical,syntactic,and textual aspects.The fourth chapter summarizes the enlightenment and limitations in this translation experience.With the record and analysis,the author expects to make more English campus news become more standardized and perfecter,making full use of this “window”,to serve the construction of faculties and universities better. |
