| In this paper, CORPUS OF ANCIENT VIETNAMESE INSCRIPTIONS (1-22volumes) are used as the main object of study. The application of "the Study on the Function or Usage of Chinese Character" and "the Inherited Vulgar Chinese Characters and the Variants of Vulgar Chinese Characters (International Vulgar Chinese Characters and National Vulgar Chinese Characters)" theories discusses the usage of Chinese characters in ancient Vietnamese inscriptions comprehensively and systematically. We think "inheritance" and "variation" are two major trends in the usage of character in ancient Vietnamese inscriptions. Firstly, we surveyed and described the general situation of the usage of Chinese characters in inscriptions. Secondly, we analyzed the phenomenon of "inheritance characters" and "variation characters" from the perspective of the spread of Chinese characters. Thirdly, we examined some difficult characters and the usage of wine vessel quantifier in ancient Vietnamese inscriptions. Finally, we pointed out that the significance and value of the study. The following is the full text of each part of the situation:The first chapter "Introduction" explains the origin of the topic, the research summary, materials, theories, methods and related concepts.The second chapter "Measuring and Describing the Usage of Chinese Characters in Ancient Vietnamese Inscriptions" surveys sampling of the study material from the diachronic perspective, calculates the number of usage of Chinese characters in different times, the types of same characters but different words and same words but different characters, Chu-Nom(Zhuang characters), and the ratio which their respectively hold. Then, we analyzed the obtained data.The third chapter "Inheritance Characters in Ancient Vietnamese Inscriptions" analyzed the "inheritance characters" of ancient Vietnamese inscriptions.The forth chapter "Variation Characters in Ancient Vietnamese Inscriptions" analyzed the "variation characters" of ancient Vietnamese inscriptions.The fifth chapter "Textual Researching on Difficult Characters in Ancient Vietnamese Inscriptions" analyzed the difficult characters of ancient Vietnamese inscriptions.The sixth chapter "Individual Cases Study on Ancient Vietnamese Inscriptions—— Wine Vessel Quantifier" analyzed the usage of wine vessel quantifier.The seventh chapter "Conclusion" expound the significance of the ChineseCharacters Research Usage, and put forward the prospect of the next research. |
