Comparative Analysis Between Chinese Time Adverb "Jiu" And Indonesian "Segera", "Sudah" And "Langsung"

The usage frequency of Chinese time adverb "jiu" is extremely high, its semantic is profound, and its pragmatic function is also very complex. Besides, the relations between some meanings of time adverb "jiu" and its Indonesian corresponding words, "segera", "sudah" and "langsung" are not one-to-one relations, but rather one-to-many relations. There are some similarities and differences between them, but in most cases Indonesian students only know their similarities, and have a hard times to distinguish the differences. Up until now, there aren't any researcher conduct the comparative analysis between Chinese time adverb "jiu" and Indonesian "segera", "sudah" and "langsung". Therefore, in order to comprehend the similarities and differences between Chinese time adverb "jiu" and Indonesian "segera", "sudah" and "langsung", researcher conducts comparative analysis in their semantic, syntactic and pragmatic aspects. Researcher hope that this thesis could provide contribution for Indonesian students to study and master Chinese time adverb "jiu".This thesis is divided into five parts. Chapter one is introduction. It summarizes the achievements of former research of time adverb "jiu" and Indonesian "segera", "sudah" and "langsung". Moreover, it also introduces the purpose and reasons of selecting this study object, the research object, and this thesis'data sources. Chapter two explains the semantic, syntactic and pragmatic functions of Chinese time adverb "jiu". Chapter three explains the semantic, syntactic and pragmatic functions of Indonesian "segera", "sudah" and "langsung". Chapter four analyzes and expounds the similarities and differences between Chinese time adverb "jiu" and Indonesian "segera", "sudah" and "langsung" in semantic, syntactic and pragmatic aspects. This thesis summary and deficiencies are discussed in the last chapter.
