The thesis is an English-Chinese translation report. The original text is an excerpt from the first three chapters of Mental Health and Integration: Provision for supporting people with mental illness: A comparison of 30 European countries,an article from the Economist Intelligence Unit, issued on November 8,2014.It is a research report, aimed at assessing the degree of commitment in 30 European countries, integrating those with mental illness into their communities. This translation practice is mainly guided by Reiss' s text typology, according to which, the original text is an informative text and the target text should be exact, faithful and fluent. At the same time, the target language and the source language should be consistent in content, conforming to the idiomatic expression.Different translation methods such as extension of meaning, conversion, amplification and syntactic linearity are adopted to solve problems in the translation of proper nouns, difficult words and sentences.Through this translation practice, under the guidance of the said translation theory, the author of the thesis has improved her translation competence and realized that there is a long way to go in learning translation.
