The purpose of this project was to write a grant proposal, design a peer lead pretreatment program for consumers with mental health illness and criminal justice involvement, and identify potential funding. The grant will serve adults with mental illness who reside in Los Angeles County. The goal of the program is to maintain motivation, coping skills, and provide interventions for adults who are in need of services and who have long waiting times for their appointments, and foreseeably improve consistency in treatment. Ultimately the program aims to decrease the rates of attrition of clients seeking mental health services through providing prompt intervention. Submission of this grant is not required for this thesis project.
