The Application Of Simplification Principle In C-E Interpretation

In simultaneous interpretation,semantic repetitions,redundant contents and excessive enumerations usually appear in source language speaking,and sometimes interpreting materials are very professional and full of terms.Without proper process of these problems,interpreting quality and audience comprehension would be destroyed or even leading to failed interpretation.Simplification Principle is indispensable in dealing with those problems,which requires interpreters use concise language to express speaker's intention by deletion and generalization of repeated structural words,modifiers or mood auxiliaries in source language,not influenced by the source language structure.This thesis is a Chinese to English simulation simultaneous interpretation practice report.The author chooses Chinese speeches from China International Software and Information Service Forum and Entrepreneurs' Summit 2015 as the interpreting materials,including Internet Plus Action Plan,big data,cloud computing and cloud storage and other technologies.With professional and scientific features,the interpreting materials also contain a lot of professional terms,technical nouns and abbreviations,which reflect the epochal theme.The interpreting materials belong to international conferences,so its languages have specific features,such as formal,correct and concise.In order to achieve the purpose of simultaneous interpretation,besides professional terms interpreting and full preparation,the interpreter should also focus on the study of language features in international conference and guarantee the interpreting is formal,fluent and concise.Through analysis of specific practice cases and consideration of scientific and technical language features,this thesis has solved semantic repetitions,excessive enumerations,professional terms and other problems by deletion and generalization,the major methods in the Simplification Principle.The author also realized the importance of preparation before interpreting and inadequate knowledge in professional field.And this interpreting experience will point out the striving direction for author's future study.The author hopes to play as a bridge in the communication between China and abroad,especially introduce our nation's Internet Plus Action Plan and let the world have a more comprehensive and accurate understanding about China.Although there are still some constraints in this thesis,the author hopes it can also bring helpful reference to the similar interpretations.
