With the economic development and political changes all over the world, the communication among different countries becomes much closer.International meetings and speeches are playing increasingly important roles in the communication process. As a highly efficient interpreting way, simultaneous interpreting(SI)becomes more and more popular in high-level meetings and many other occasions. In this thesis, two National Day Rally speeches delivered by Lee Hsien Loong, the prime minister of Singapore,in 2015 and 2016,are selected as the sound recordings to explore the specific interpreting skills by having simulated SI practice on them, after which the overall summary and analysis of the target text would be done in detail. The thesis is based on sound recordings and target texts of the SI for the two Mandarin speeches mentioned above, focuses on an explicit description of task background, interpreting process and case analysis. In the chapter of process description, the preparation of simultaneous interpreting and quality control are introduced. In the chapter of case analysis, under the principle of Simplification as well as the principle of Information Equivalence, different strategies used in simultaneous interpreting are analyzed, such as literal translation and free translation, ellipsis and amplification. These strategies are all illustrated in detail by analyzing sentences in the interpretation. In addition, this chapter also points out the problems occurred in the simultaneous interpreting process, such as over-redundancy and vagueness. In the conclusion,by summarizing and reflecting on the simultaneous interpreting process, the author points out the instructive meaning of this thesis and what he should do to improve his interpreting performance in the future.
