With the development of the globalization,tourism has transformed from a common service industry to one of the pillar industries of the world economic development.Recently,tourism is growing while the talents in this area are inadequate.The Ministry of Education's Suggestions on Strengthening the Work of Talents Training in Higher Vocational Education shows that conducting Work—integrated Learning is the biggest specialty in higher vocational education.The combination of colleges and social employing departments,of theory and practice is the basic way to cultivate talents.Therefore,English curriculum reform in tourism major is of great importance.Higher vocational colleges should nail this opportunity and further English curriculum reform to bring up skillful tourism talents with professional theory and techniques,practical working ability as well as English application ability.As the English curriculum system of tourism management cannot adapt to the teaching models and talent training objectives,restricting the students' professional ability,the English curriculum reform must be enforced.This article analyzes current situations and existing problems of Tourism Management in higher vocational colleges and studies the English curriculum reform in Tourism Management of the author's college.Presenting a kind of English curriculum construction based on Work—integrated Learning which includes the curriculum's objectives;contents;activities;methods and principles.It discusses the Tourism Management major's feature,occupational direction,talent training mode and teaching models,to build an English curriculum with the combination of English and tourism management for developing the students' position ability and professional ability.There are six parts in this article.The first part is about research background,importance and objective.The second part states the current situation and existing problems of Tourism Management in higher vocational colleges.The third is about the survey and analysis on current implementary state of English curriculum in Tourism Management.The fourth part discusses the principles;objectives and content direction of English curriculum reform in Tourism Management.The fifth is about the teaching experiment on the second year hospitality management students of the author's college,compares the students' learning effect through the pretest-posttest and get further understanding of how the curriculum reform and creative teaching affect the students' vocational ability.The last part proposes some suggestions on English curriculum construction based on Work—integrated Learning.
