| Tie Ning and Zhang Ailing are considered as the outstanding writers in researching female characters.Their works reveals female's inner world and survival as well as the life meaning of female individual in Chinese patriarchal society.And their most representative pieces are Rose Gate written by Tie Ning and Golden Cangue by Zhang Ailing respectively,both of which focus on the description of mental violence the women suffered from the patriarchal oppression and of individual different responses.Though female images in two works were born in different times with different backgrounds,the situation where they suffered discrimination and depression can not be changed,because of the long history of the patriarchal ideology.Therefore,the paper selects the female characters in two works as the research objects.Based on texts,firstly,the paper tries to analyze what their fates would be after being discriminated,insulted,peeped,interfered and controlled.And then the paper intends to explore the causes of mental violence.Among them,the fundamental reason is the deep-rooted patriarchal status.Other reasons as the unfortunate marriage,different personality traits,the restriction of traditional custom and the influence of cultural factors are also mentioned.In addition,through the analysis of the causes of mental violence,the paper tries to summarize the paths by which the women in new era get away from the mental violence.Women should be independent not only in spirit but also in economy;when suffering from mental violence,women should be brave enough to resist and decisively get away from the perpetrators;more importantly,women should learn to self-examine in order not to let themselves be accomplices of the patriarchal order and conspiracy.On the basis of previous research,by further analyzing and concluding the female's existence state under mental violence,the paper tries to improve the academic research on historical evolution of the female fate. |
