China is the earliest country which found and made use of tea, and nowadays many countries have introduced the tea, cultivation techniques and processing technology; however, most foreign countries do not have a deep understanding of Chinese tea ceremony and tea culture. The author of this report found that the tea ceremony of Japan and South Korea has got their origins from China, but the Chinese tea ceremony promotion is not good as the other two. The Tea Ceremony Lecture interpretation practice of this project is one of the foreign affairs activities of the exchange scholars from University of Illinois of the United States during their visit to Heilongjiang University. The activity was hosted by Heilongjiang University and held by School of Western Studies and the Foreign Affairs Department of Heilongjiang University. The purpose of the Tea Ceremony Lecture is to prefund the Chinese tea culture in the process of teatasting, tea-ceremony-discussing and tea-art-appreciating.Taking the tea ceremony lecture interpretation of the reception of exchange scholars as an example, with the preparation, the possible problems, the coping tactics in the process interpretation and the professional quality of the interpreteras its major content, the author of this report discusses the Chinese-English interpretation of three kinds of tea—Dahongpao(also Red Robe), Pu-er and Longjing during the Tea Ceremony Lecture, including the procedure of the tea ceremony, terminology of tea art, translation of tea set, differences in history, culture and food. Through the interpretation practice, the author of this report classifies the types of problems appeared in the process of the lecture and proposes solution to these problems. The purpose is to share the experiences with other learners and provide reference for them. Meanwhile, the author of this report ponders over the problems that remain unsolved and the practice of the Tea Ceremony Lecture in order to inspire and remind the learners of interpretation to pay attention to the accumulation of encyclopedia knowledge and the equivalent interpretation practice. The author of this report also hopes that this practice report can be illuminating for the study and work of language learners in the future.
