Chinese tea culture is time honored, and it has been spread all over the world with other Chinese cultures. According to the differences of making techniques and tastes, tea can be divided into six categories, among which dark tea is included. In recent years, as its unique health care efficacy is known to the world, dark tea has received extensive attention and warm welcome.This is a Chinese-English translation report on the translation of chapter 1 and chapter 10 of The Time of Dark Tea, which is a book comprehensively introducing dark tea. Aiming at arousing the readers’ interests and popularizing Anhua dark tea, the author selected the source text on introducing the history, status, and effects of Anhua dark tea. The original text belongs to informative text with some incomplete appellative function. It possesses the characteristics of typical Chinese sentences that emphasize on parataxis and whose structure is loose, generally using short scattered sentences. Meanwhile, it contains a lot of documentary records and historical facts as well as many Chinese culture-loaded words, all related with traditional Chinese culture. Based on the language features and the purpose of writing, the author decided to take the Skopostheorie put forward by German Functionalist School as the guidance of translation. And the author applied several methods during the process of translation, such as transliteration with annotation, amplification, omission, division and combination, in order to translate Chinese into English accurately and authentically and spread cultural information to the target readers effectively.
