This translation material is extracted from Dark Ecology written by Timothy Morton. The translation report is written on the basis of the translation of The First Thread of Chapter One.The appropriate and specific translation techniques are chosen under the guidance of Eco-Tanslatology proposed by Prof.Hu Gengshen. The translation report is divided into four parts. The first part is a general description of the translation task, which includes the source of the translation material, the introduction to it and its writer and the significance of the translation. The second part is a general introduction to the translation process, including pre-translation preparation, the selection of translation techniques as well as proofreading and polishing. The third part is the main part of this report: an analysis of the translation cases. Some typical cases are analyzed from the perspective of vocabulary, syntax and discourse and the problems encountered during translation are pointed out and the corresponding solutions are proposed. The cases at the vocabulary level are analyzed, namely: terminology, polysemy, old words with new meanings and category words. Some cases at the syntax level are analyzed ranging from the conversion of cohesive devices, recombination of surface structure, shift of perspective, strategy of localization.Lastly, the text type and logic at the discourse level are analyzed. The last part of the report is a summary of translation practice, which includes experiences of the translator, and an overview of the defects in the translation process and the solutions to these problems. It is stressed that there is not enough understanding in the field of ecocriticism,post-structuralist philosophy.More knowledge is needed to deepen the understanding of the original text. The ability of English language analysis and Chinese expression should be improved.
