Report On The Translation Of Journey To Data Quality

With the development of science and technology and the acceleration of economic globalization process, the Age of Big data is coming. Data exchange becomes more and more frequent, and it becomes more and more important to acquire data timely and accurately in the development process of the whole society. However, the chaotic data easily result in efficiency problems in a business management system, so how to solve the problem of assessing data quality is just around the corner. There are many advanced methods for assessing data quality abroad, so advanced experience learning has become an important way of data quality assessment in China. In this process, a translator plays a role as a bridge in the translation of data quality materials. A good economic article translated by the translator is also important to communicate and solve data quality assessment problems. This report is based on data quality assessment, and the source text contains three chapters, which is an excerpt from a book named Journey to Data Quality,wherein, chapter 1 lists three examples to illustrate how important the data quality is, and chapter 3 gives an overview of three approaches to assess an organization’s data quality and some metrics that can be used to perform objective measurements of different data quality dimensions. In addition, chapter 3 also provides a survey tool to perform the subjective evaluation. Chapter 4 discusses metrics that can be used to perform objective measurements of different data quality dimensions. First, the paper briefly introduced the status quo of data quality, the relevant background, and the significance of translation of data quality assessment; second, the paper introduced the task background, the source text and the target readers, and introduced the translation plan from preparations before translation and quality control; last, the paper analyses this economic article from the lexical level and syntactic level.The purposes are to find translation difficulties in terms and sentences, and to make solutions accordingly.The aims of this paper are to share experience in economic article translation, to provide reference for data quality assessment in China, and to attract more interested translators to do this type of translation. Meanwhile, more and more people and organizations are expected to be interested in the problems of data quality, and are stimulated to improve their data quality level and improve their competitiveness accordingly.
