This report is based on the translation of BHUTAN-THE ROAR OF THE THUNDER DRAGON written by Lyonpo Om Pradhan and published by KMedia in 2012 which refers to the emergence of the Kingdom of Bhutan. The report only includes the first 40 pages of the book, covering about 1,5000 words, which deals with the history from the emergence of Bhutan as a political entity to the emergence of national leadership. The report includes six parts. Part Ⅰ introduces the translation project. Part Ⅱ introduces the text resource and analyzes the original work. Part Ⅲ is preparation for the translation project. Part Ⅳ explores the theoretical guidance in the process of translation and analyzes the application of Functional Equivalence Theory. Part Ⅴ explores the main approaches used in the translation practice with specific examples, including the translation of abstract words, complicated sentences etc. and of specific solutions. The last part is the conclusion.Inspired by the translation theory of Functional Equivalence Theory proposed by Eugene Nida, the author aims to reproduce the culture in the original text and eliminate the cultural difference for readers.
